Talk to an advisor

The process

How it works

How we work your file, step by step, from your first call with a credit advisor to closing your file.

How we work your file, step by step

  1. Talk to an advisorA credit advisor calls you, usually the same business day. You talk through your goal: a house, a car, or just better credit.
  2. Start your credit monitoring and free consultationYou open a Credit Armor monitoring account so we can see your Equifax, Experian and TransUnion reports. Then your credit advisor goes through the entire report with you, explains what’s on it, and gives you credit education and tips you can keep using.
  3. Pick your plan and signMonthly or Pay-Per-Deletion. You sign a representation agreement, and from that point you’re a client of a law firm.
  4. We go to workWe challenge inaccurate, incomplete and unverifiable items with the bureaus and the companies reporting them.
  5. We work in 35–40 day roundsEach round, we send disputes and letters, then give the bureaus and creditors time to respond. A full round takes about 35 to 40 days.
  6. Results review after each roundYour advisor walks you through what’s been corrected or deleted and what moved on your scores.
  7. Keep going until you hit your goalHit your goal and you’re done. If not, we keep working every avenue the law allows.

What happens when we find an inaccuracy or violation

This is where a law firm is different from a letter-writing service.

1. Dispute it

We challenge the item with the bureau and the company reporting it. Collection companies have to be able to validate the debt. Many can’t, and the item comes off.

2. Legal review

When we find an inaccuracy or a violation, your credit repair file is sent to our law team for legal review.

3. Possible attorney action

When the law has been broken, our attorneys can negotiate or file suit. Not every account qualifies; each case is reviewed individually.

Verified as accurate? That isn’t the end.

Even when a collection is verified as accurate, you still have options. Over the years we’ve built relationships with hundreds of collection companies that have agreed to delete a collection from your credit report when it’s paid through us.

  • Pay-Per-Deletion clients pay the deletion fee only if the item comes off. Monthly clients, it’s included.
  • Not every company agrees, and some require the full balance.
  • Want a debt settled instead, or being sued? See debt negotiation and defense.

Two ways to pay

Monthly
One predictable monthly fee while we work your file.

Pay-Per-Deletion
You don’t pay till it goes away. You’re billed only for items removed.

Your advisor explains both on the call. An active Credit Armor subscription, a separate company and fee, is required while you’re a client so we can track every change on your reports.
